Nuremberg overview

Nuremberg Travel Guide
Known for its sausages and gingerbread, and almost totally flattened in WWII, Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second town, is a good alternative to bustling Munich and is only an hour away by autobahn. When many hear the word Nuremberg it often conjures up visions of the Nuremberg trials or a monumental Reich Party Rally, yet it is still a supremely beautiful town with a profusion of Gothic churches and areas of greenery. Although much of the old town was razed, there are many reminders of the city’s medieval history for foot tourists to discern and great swathes of greenery at the eastern flank. Nuremberg is an hour or so from Munich and also has its own airport.
