Mannheim overview

Mannheim Travel Guide
Just 21kms north of the Baroque town of Heidelberg, the sprawling industrial city of Mannheim is not expected to be listed on a traveller’s Top 100 sought after tourist destinations in Germany. The once beautiful city was flattened by bomb raids during WWII and most of its historical monuments were replaced by buildings common during the 1950s. As a result, the impression left by Mannheim to tourists is more of a busy industrial city with no historical sight. But don’t be worried, Mannheim will compensate you with its lively cultural scene and decent shopping. Mannheim is also a city that offers several selections when it comes to food. Swabian and Palatinate dishes are popular here, and the city has many restaurants that serve international cuisine. These dining places however can be a bit costly, as they serve incredibly high quality of food. So for budget-conscious travellers, you better ask the food price before ordering.
